On Saturday 29 June the Savio Valley will host the first stage of the 111th Tour de France “Florence – Rimini” (206 kilometres). The international cycling race for professionals, which it will leave at 12:00 from Florence, will access the Emilia-Romagna territory from the Tre Faggi pass, and will enter the Savio Valley from the “Passo del Carnaio” at approximately 3:00 pm. The athletes will travel along the SR142 passing from Quarto – Sarsina – Monte Castello. From 3.45pm they will tackle the Barbotto – SP11 climb and then continue to Savignano di Rigo – Novafeltria – San Leo – San Marino and reach the finish line in Rimini.

On all road sections traveled by Tour de France Vehicular traffic will be completely banned three hours before the passage of the athletes who will cross the Savio Valley starting from 3:00 pm to 4:16 pm.

In the Savio Valley there are 2 Mountain Grand Prix of the 67 scheduled in the Tour: Carnaio and Barbotto. The Mountain Grand Prix are flying finishes placed at the top of the climbs considered to be the most significant of the entire Tour route. On these Grand Prix traffic will be blocked both uphill and downhill starting from 10.30 am.

With the aim of avoiding traffic flows on the adjacent SS71 affected by the competition, Anas will close the exits of the E45 junctions from 11.00am to 4.30pm. These are the junctions: San Piero in Bagno – Quarto – Sarsina Nord – Sarsina Sud and Montecastello. In this regard, please note that the Mercato Saraceno exit junction, for those coming from Cesena, is still closed due to works in progress. The 111th edition of the great cycling stage race, the third most important sporting event in the world after the Olympics and the football World Cup, will thus turn the spotlight on the Savio Valley area, becoming a great opportunity for international promotion for the territories. Thanks to Valle Savio Bike Sound, anyone can be the protagonist of this historic day. In fact, they will be prepared three specials areas Hospitality on the route in three points of interest in the Savio Valley: Carnaio Pass (San Piero in Bagno – Bagno di Romagna), Quarto Lake (Sarsina) e Colle del Barbotto (Saracen Market).

Furthermore, as part of the initiatives proposed by the municipalities of Mercato Saraceno and Sogliano al Rubicone, the “Social Ride” event will be held on June 29th. This special ride will see the participation of former cycling champions and will end at the Barbotto Pass, where enthusiasts will be welcomed with dedicated hospitality. The day will begin at 9:00 am on the Barbotto Pass with a DJ set that will liven up the atmosphere with music and interviews with local authorities and important people. A giant screen will also be set up to broadcast the stage of the Tour de Francewhich will be followed from the start to the finish, allowing participants to experience the emotion of the race live.
