Policeman killed in Naples 36 years ago: Allard asks for a ‘dry’ shortened trial

Naples. Salvatore Allard, 59 years old, requested the abbreviated “secco” (which excludes further evidentiary acquisitions) in the trial against him for the murder of the policeman Domenico Attianese.

The agent was killed on December 4, 1986, during a robbery in the Romanelli jewelry store in the Pianura district of Naples.

Allard, who has already been the protagonist of a successful rehabilitation process, is accused, together with Giovanni Rendina, 60, of having fired the fatal shot against Attianese.

Rendina, who was not present in the courtroom at the preliminary hearing because he was still hospitalized, could follow the same strategy as Allard and also ask for a shortened hearing.

The hypothesis is that the position of at least one of the two defendants can be defined already at the next hearing, set for July 23rd.

According to the investigators’ reconstruction, Attianese intervened in the robbery after being alerted by his 14-year-old daughter. During the scuffle with the bandits, the policeman was fatally wounded in the head by a gunshot.

The investigations, coordinated by the anti-mafia prosecutor Maurizio De Marco, were complex and carried out on a now dated case. However, thanks to the commitment of the investigators, it was possible to shed light on a heinous crime that profoundly affected the community of Pianura.
