The Santa Maria del Monte Solidarity for Life Award – organized by the Bank of Piacenza and now in its 34th edition – aimed at recognizing acts and behaviors of human solidarity for the promotion and defense of life. The certificate and the expected prize will be delivered by the Prefect on Sunday 30th (the last of June, as tradition) at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Monte, in the presence of the Bishop Emeritus Msgr. Gianni Ambrosio, who will celebrate a solemn mass at 6 pm.
This was decided unanimously by the judging commission gathered in the Prefecture under the presidency of the Prefect Paolo Ponta – the head of the Cabinet Francesco Paolo Ramunni and the deputy head of the Cabinet Claudio Giordano were present – and composed of the president of the Banca di Piacenza Giuseppe Nenna – Lorella was also present Stocking of Relations Coordination – from Don Giuseppe Basini, vicar general and rector of the Sanctuary of Monte, from Franco Albertini, mayor of Alta Val Tidone, accompanied by councilor Giovanni Dotti, and from Paola Farroni, provincial inspector of the volunteer nurses of the Red Cross.
This is the motivation: «The Association, thanks to over one hundred volunteers, offers a support service to the sick hospitalized in Piacenza and its province and to the elderly guests of retirement homes – as well as their families – giving human warmth, listening, company, thus alleviating suffering and loneliness of people in difficulty. The Association’s contribution during the Covid emergency was invaluable, through home delivery of medicines and reception services at vaccination centres.”
