A mini-documentary created by the Department of Civil Protection, the Campania Region – Civil Protection and the INGV Vesuvian Observatory explains the bradyseismic phenomenon, the volcanic risk in the Campi Flegrei Caldera and the current Civil Protection Planning.
The video “Volcanic eruptions and bradyseism. The civil protection response” includes, among other things, the 3D animation of the possible volcanic eruption, with greater attention to the phenomenologies and allows us to delve deeper into the volcanic risk and the bradyseismic phenomenon at the Campi Flegrei, focusing on the current situation, therefore providing data on the uplift of the soil and on seismicity, on the civil protection response to the ongoing bradyseismic crisis.
The video then focuses on the monitoring activities, to give space to the animation of the eruptive scenario on which the National Volcanic Risk Plan is based which defines the activities envisaged in the different operational phases: attention, early warning and alarm. The new IT-alert public alarm system and the plan for the removal of citizens from the red zone in the event of an alarm are illustrated, with a focus on autonomous and assisted transfer towards the twinned Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
The mini-documentary is created as part of the communication plan to the population envisaged by Legislative Decree 140 of 12 October 2023 and approved by the DGR of the Campania Region 679/2023.
It is aimed mainly at citizens of the Phlegraean area, but also at civil protection volunteers, and at all those who want to deepen their knowledge on the volcanic and bradyseismic risk that affects the territories to increase their awareness and be better prepared to adopt the correct behaviors in case of event.
