In Cerignola the program for the 2024 celebrations in honor of Maria SS. of Ripalta will be presented on Saturday 29 June, at 9.15pm, at the end of the solemn pontifical celebration in honor of Saints Peter and Paul in the cathedral of Cerignola, in front of the headquarters of the Patronal Festivals Deputation (corso Garibaldi, 62).
The presentation press conference will be attended by Msgr. Fabio Ciollaro, bishop of Cerignola-Ascoli Satriano, mons. Vincenzo D’Ercole, bishop commissioner, and Francesco de Cosmo, president of the patronal celebrations delegation. It will be a precious opportunity to preview the events which, between prayer and reflection, charity and culture in its various expressions, starting from next August 29th, the day of the beginning of the devout novena, will characterize the daily life of the city of Cerignola, and which will culminate on 8 September – Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – in the morning celebration of the solemn pontifical presided over by the bishop in the cathedral and in the procession which, in the evening, will cross the main city streets.
The date of June 29th was not chosen by chance: this year, in fact, together with the 75th anniversary of the coronation (1949) of the icon, marks the 165th anniversary of the proclamation of the Madonna di Ripalta as “main patroness” of the City of Cerignola (1859) together with Saint Peter the Apostle.
