The Cinema Rallythe automotive event that brings together the celebrities of the Italian big and small screen, between the mid-1950s and early 1960s, stopped in Salerno. It is the sixth edition, the first to stop at Southern Italy and there is great enthusiasm in the city for the close encounter with the VIPs of the moment, the crowd awaits in large numbers on the seafront for the arrival of the caravan that left Rome escorted by a line of motorcyclists. Each car hosts a pair of actors. The Swedish actress stands out among all for her beauty Anita Ekberg who arrives with “the marquis of the night” Antonio Gerini aboard a Lancia Flaminia. Shortly thereafter she would become very famous playing the protagonist, with Marcellus Mastroiannithe scandal film “The sweet life” directed by Federico Fellini.
There is also Maurizio Di Lorenzo, better known as Maurizio Arena, the “poor but handsome” star who came from the road, who suffers an accident along the way: his car collides with a fruit truck. It’s still Renato Rascelwhich kicks off the rally in Rome, Lorella De Luca, Didi Perego, Carlo Mazzarella and Enrico Pianori who performs with the guitar.
The event ends with awards ceremony presented by Lello Bersani: among the winners the crews formed by Ekberg and Gerini, Gerard Landry and Susan Loret, Ennio Girolami and Stella Dizzy, Anna D’Amico and Giuseppe Bennati.
