The mayor of Matera, Domenico Bennardi, and the sports councilor Antonio Materdomini, have expressed “apprehension” for the future of the Matera football team. Negotiations are underway for the transfer of the company from Antonio Petraglia to other possible candidates for ownership.
«We are confident in a positive solution – explain the administrators – which can avoid any possibility of Matera FC not registering in the championship. In 2023 we celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Matera sports club, and it would be truly humiliating for our city not to participate in the Serie D championship in the now imminent new season. We trust that the protagonists of the negotiation (apparently a group of local entrepreneurs) will find a solution in the best possible way, after more than a month of stalemate. We know that the club would be working to formalize registration for the next Serie D championship, but with imminent deadlines (there is time from 8 to 12 July).
