It is called Piazza Fiamme Gialle, it has a beautiful monument dedicated – precisely – to the Fiamme Gialle in the center, but, above all, it is a symbol of a very close bond between the capital and the Guardia di Finanza: Rovigo, in fact, was the only city in the Triveneto area to have hosted a school for students of the Corps. Every year, for two decades, hundreds of future financiers have arrived to train in the complex that now houses the healthcare centre.

Loves were born, families were formed, Rovigo acquired new citizens. Today, the school no longer exists, but the roots it planted went far beyond a simple concrete building, deeply impacting the community in an indelible way.

An evocative ceremony and, therefore, also full of meaning, the one that took place this morning, Saturday 22 June, in the small square in Via Sacro Cuore in front of the former shopping centre. It took place in the presence of the highest civil and military authorities of Polesine, including the regional commander of the Guardia di Finanza. In addition to the wrought iron monument, the toponymic plaque was also discovered which names the square after the Fiamme Gialle.

The date chosen for the dedication is also symbolic: it coincides, in fact, with the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps.
