POTENZA PICENA (MC) – The Carabinieri of the Porto Potenza Picena Station Command have identified and reported to the Judicial Authority a man of Neapolitan origins who, last January 2nd, was responsible for a huge fraud against a jewelery shop in the city.
The 60-year-old man, with multiple criminal convictions for crimes against property and a resident of the Neapolitan district of Scampia, managed to deceive the sales assistant of the well-known commercial business, convincing her to accept some jewelery in exchange for the purchase of jewellery, for a total value of approximately 7000 euros.
Only after the criminal had left did the woman realize the deception, realizing that the jewels given in payment by the man, in reality, had no commercial value.
Having received the report, the Carabinieri immediately set out on the trail of the fraudster, comparing the images of the jewelery store’s video surveillance system with those of numerous people convicted of such crimes, present in the Carabinieri’s database, and cross-referencing some testimonies with the purchase data from the license plate reading system installed in the area.
The military was therefore able to identify the Neapolitan criminal as the perpetrator of the scam. I am currently working to find out not only whether he acted supported by other accomplices, but, above all, whether he was responsible for other similar criminal episodes in the area.
Furthermore, the Carabinieri of Porto Potenza managed to identify two 20 year old twin brothers, also originally from the province of Naples, but long resident in the coastal town, who last week, at night, were responsible for acts of vandalism against a tobacconist in the city centre, damaging the external furnishings and causing extensive damage economical to the owner. Also in this case, the two were reported to the Judicial Authority.
