In Lecce special appointment with “Everyone wants to do jazz”

LECCE – In the garden of the Augustinian Complex in via Michele De Pietro 10 in Lecce, the series of concerts promoted by the Caffetteria OgniBene continues, in collaboration with the Library, the Municipality of Lecce and the Council of students of the Tito Schipa Conservatory of Music of Lecce, edited by Raffaella Roccasecca.

Friday 21 June (8.30 pm – free entry), on the occasion of the Music Festival, the event hosts a true immersion in the world of jazz with an ensemble made up of Maria Lubelli and Letizia Trianni (vocals), Riccardo Notarpietro (piano), Pierpaolo Polo (double bass) and Christian Martina (drums). The first part of the concert will feature famous songs taken from the soundtracks of Disney cartoons revisited in a jazz key.

Starting from “Someday my prince will come” by Frank Churchill from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” performed numerous times by singers and musicians such as Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Grant Green, Keith Jarrett, Sun Ra, Diana Ross and The supremes, Barbra Streisand and many others. The proposed program covers approximately a century of history, from 1930 to 2009, thus capable of involving many generations. There will be no shortage of the irresistible “Alleluia, tutti jazzisti” by George Bruns, a famous tune from the film The Aristocats. The second part will be a real homage to Duke Ellington, one of the cornerstones of the entire jazz repertoire. Through the production of the American artist we retrace his entire journey as a musician, composer and conductor, passing from his first masterpieces to the Cotton Club until he reached his mature, impressionistic and sonic style.
