Purple like lavender, one of the symbols of the holiday. Purple like the color that dominates in the maps of Cesena revisited on the occasion of San Giovanni, the traditional fair dedicated to the city’s patron saint and which in 2024 for the 31st time will be held under the aegis of Cesena Fiera. At 7.30pm on Friday 21 June, mayor Enzo Lattuca and probably also the new council which should be announced in the next few hours, will cut the ribbon of the symbolic festival of the city’s summer, in the company of the president of Cesena Fiera Renzo Piraccini. The proposal will, as always, be very rich and will involve the entire urban heart, including traditions and suggestions, such as those that come from the intriguing world of magic and solstice rites designed to keep witches at bay. The area of the Serravalle Gardens is highly confirmed, which will be dedicated to the food offered by the food trucks, but also to artisanal products and live music. The live soundtrack will be a feature of the entire event, also proposed in Piazza Almerici, Piazza Amendola, Giardini Pubblici and Via Strinati. Speaking of Via Strinati, the streets adjacent to it will also return to their full ‘vitality’, which will also welcome the spaces dedicated to magic. At the Public Gardens, in addition to music, there will be initiatives dedicated to inclusion, while along the axis from Piazza della Libertà to Via Battisti there will be, as always, the car show, the trade fair and the spaces dedicated to street vendors and to nurseries. The Fiera Antica will return to via Zeffirino Re, while the Savelli Gardens will host the ‘Romagna Ginfest’. The street vendors will also fill Piazza del Popolo, while a space dedicated to food and wellbeing will be set up in Viale Mazzoni, before closing with the amusement park rides which will go as far as the intersection with Via del Tunnel.

“The intent – commented the mayor Enzo Lattica and the director of Cesena Fiera Luigi Bianchi – is to constantly renew and innovate the proposal. We are already thinking about the next edition, but remaining on the one now upon us, it is important to underline the inclusion in the program of a growing number of shows, designed to add proposals to a container that is already very rich on its own”. The cloister of San Francesco, for example, will offer three events: on Saturday 22nd from 9.15pm Cesena will also celebrate the ‘Music Festival’. It will be a musical marathon, organized by the bands of the ‘Chorus Institute Of Musical Arts’ music school in collaboration with ‘AIdsm’ (Italian Association of Music Schools). On Sunday 23rd from 9.15pm ‘Poeti a San Giovanni’ will return, a classic event promoted by ‘Campo della Stella’. Gianfranco Lauretano hosts. Finally, on Monday 24th from 9pm ‘Happiness for dummies – Happiness for denied people’ will be staged, a monologue by Roberto Mercadini promoted by the Diocese, on the occasion of Family Day. Free entry. The complete program of the fair is available on the website www.cesenafiera.com Finally, regarding religious celebrations, from 10 to 12 on Monday 24 June, on the occasion of the pontifical mass celebrated by Bishop Douglas Regattieri, one of the great liturgical books owned by the Diocese preserved in the Malatestiana Library it will be exhibited inside the cathedral.
