Milan – High school leaving exams underway 76,960 students from Lombardy: 74,317 internal candidates and 2,643 private candidates who will appear for the first test, in front of 1,803 commissions for state schools and 266 for private schools (the latter are asked to evaluate 8,260 students). Each commission is made up of three internal professors, three external ones and an external president. There will be 24,858 Milanese tested: 23,829 internal and 1,029 private individuals. Among them there are also two anticipated on merit who will try to get their diploma a year early, thanks to their golden report cards.

The demographic decline – which began to hit in the first year of high school – is not yet felt at the “higher levels”: the Milanese graduates this year there are three hundred more to examine than last year and there are also around forty more exteriors. Today, at 8.30, the Ministry will communicate the key for opening the electronic package to all commissions: seven tracks to choose from, which refer to the artistic, literary, historical, philosophical, scientific, technological, economic and social fields.

The hunt for commissioners continued yesterday too: “The difficulties seem to have disappeared, after tireless work by the various provincial school offices – he explains Matteo Loria, ANP Lombardy –. But a lot of commissioners have been replaced, let’s hope that tomorrow morning (today for those reading, ed) the work can begin regularly, but I think we can be reasonably optimistic.”

The tour de force it was concentrated between Pavia and Brescia, but “even in Bergamo the situation was serious”. A handful of hours before kick-off comes the encouragement from the Lombard governor Attilio Fontana to the graduates: “You are young, full of potential and resources, capable of overcoming any obstacle that life throws at you. Face these exams with serenity, confidence in your abilities and in the knowledge that you have all it takes to pass them brilliantly.” It adds to the wish the regional councilor Simona Tironi which urges the 76,960 students in Lombardy to “seize every opportunity without fear of making mistakes”. “Personally, I also experienced anxiety and fear of the oral exam – confesses Tironi – but I learned to face my fears and transform them into positive adrenaline”.
