WEDGE NEWS – The town of Passatore invites you to the patronal festival in honor of San Giovanni Battista and from June 20th to 24th offers five evenings of music, two gatherings, dinners and much more. It starts on Thursday 20 June with the concert of the Cuneo choir La Baita, at 9pm in the parish church: an opportunity to listen to songs from the Piedmontese and Occitan tradition but not only, on a journey into the music and traditions of popular singing, which La Baita has embodied and kept alive for over 70 years.

From the following evening, the party and shows move to the nearby ex sferisterio area, which until a few years ago also hosted the “Music for Kenya” charity music festival with its concerts. On the evening of Friday 21 June, Borderline will take to the stage with their powerful tribute to international rock, from Van Halen to the Police, from AC/DC to Kiss via Depeche Mode and U2. The band is known and loved in the Cuneo area and is made up of Davide Donadei and Enrico Gosmar (guitars), Marco Giaccardi (bass) and Fabio Rosso (drums), with the voice of Davide Musizzano.

Still from a musical point of view, the weekend is all about dancing: on Saturday 22nd there are DJs Altarknock on the console, while on Sunday 23rd we dance with Gigi L’Altro and his tribute to Gigi D’Agostino, in the “tenth anniversary show ” (right in Passatore, in July 2014 at Music for Kenya, he began this artistic adventure that took him throughout Italy and abroad).

On the evening of Monday 24th, the 2024 edition of the patronal festival ends in the name of Italian music with a high-level show: “Rock & Blues”, in a triple tribute to Vasco, Ligabue and Zucchero. On stage, the band of musicians and three singers who will alternate with the songs of Vasco Rossi, Luciano Ligabue and Zucchero Fornaciari (the latter played by the double “Cipo”, already appreciated on TV in the program “Tale e Quale Show”).

On the days of the patronal feast there are also two gatherings. On Saturday 22 June the area will host some historic tractors, from 10am to 6.30pm for a gathering with an exhibition of historic agricultural vehicles, modeling and demonstrations of threshing machines (in collaboration with the Piedmont Vintage Tractor Club). A dive into the past even for the little ones, because in the afternoon (from 3.30pm to 7pm) Mario Collino, aka Prezzemolo, will also be there with his friendliness and experience, to help adults discover the “games of the past”. and small.

For Sunday 23 June, other proposals for enthusiasts and families. From the morning the hamlet hosts the first edition of a rally of vintage and sports cars, with a tour of the surrounding valleys for participants and display of vehicles along Via Rocca (for registrations: tel. 345-2230556 and 340-6892542). Still space for children and teenagers, with animation and entertainment by the Red Noses of Conivip, for an afternoon of colour, joy, friendliness and smiles. During the celebration, there will also be space for the European Football Championship matches, for those who don’t want to miss the national team.

For the days of celebrations in honor of the patron Saint John the Baptist, religious celebrations and initiatives with the parish are also planned: after the inauguration of the ancient organ restored in the church (last Saturday, 15 June), Saturday 22nd at 6.00 pm is celebrated the festive Mass on the eve and on Sunday 23rd at 9.30 the festive Mass with procession of the statue of the Saint along the Leja. On the afternoon of Sunday 23rd, guided tours of the parish church will also take place to discover the restoration work which in recent years has changed the face of the sacred building and also of the ancient “Madonna del latte”, the fresco inside the tower bell tower (guided tour times: 3pm, 3.30pm, 4pm and 4.30pm). Furthermore, again for the parish, on the days of the patronal feast the charity stand with lottery is active: the draw will be on the evening of Monday 24 June.

Registration is also open for the gastronomic moments, including the fish dinner on Friday 21st and the meat dinner on Saturday 22nd (tel. 339-2765291 and 392-0398512, while places last), Sunday lunch for the participants of the gathering car and in the evening free dinner with fresh meat hamburgers and platters of cold cuts and cheeses; finally on Monday 24th the polenta (at 7.30pm, 4 euros, served at the table); throughout the event, bar service with sandwiches and burgers, cocktails, beer and soft drinks, platters and other delicacies.
