residents’ petition for more controls

To combat theft, the citizens of Udine Sud are asking for greater controls.

Thefts, threats, break-ins: fed up with too many crimes taking place in the neighbourhood, the citizens of Udine Sud have started a crime petition calling for greater controls by the police, a petition that between Saturday and Sunday has collected more than 150 signatures.

The initiative was launched by 24-year-old Matteo Baldassi: “Following the numerous reports on behalf of the citizens who live in the southern area of Udine – is the text of the petition -, I have decided to take matters into my own hands because I consider it unthinkable and unacceptable that people suffer violence such as: thefts of all kinds, armed threats, violations of property with the aim of theft and break-ins. It is also it is unacceptable that the community cannot feel safe both in your home and in the area where you live”.

“It is for this reason, therefore, that I decided to carry out this collection of signatures, to make the voice of a community tired of no longer feeling safe, which they are afraid of letting out their children in the evening, which must waking up in the morning with fear of finding the garage burgled, the car broken into, or returning in the evening after hours of work, or after a holiday, the house burgled. Imagine if it happened to you.”

“This collection of signatures, including sheets of testimonies, will be attached to a forthcoming letter sent to the Police Headquarters, Prefecture and Municipality. The collection of signatures will last until Sunday, therefore a week and I therefore ask for great participation from everyone”.

Baldassi distributed the signature sheets in various businesses in via Pradamano, viale Palmanova and Cussignacco. He himself will also be available in the evenings from 9pm onwards to collect signatures for the petition at the park in via Canada.
