A new plan from 734.9 million euros for nursery schools was launched by the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditarawho signed the decree last May 3rd which provides resources coming from funds Pnrrto try to align Italy with European objectives in terms of early childhood services. Almost 54 million euros are destined for Calabria.
After having already missed the “goal” set by the EU at 33% coverage in 2010, reaching just 27.2% of children under three years old find a place in municipal nursery schoolsour country now finds itself trying to reach an even higher bar: 45% by 2030. A gap that the Government is trying to fill thanks to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan from which 4.6 billion had already arrived for nurseries and nursery schools. A figure of which a slice had gone to Calabria 220 million eurosto which are now added the resources provided for in the new decree: 53,992,000 euros for 70 municipalities included in the ranking among those that responded to the public notice dated May 15th.
According to the latest data collected in our region less than 12% of the population under 3 years old is able to use municipal services: just over 5,200 compared to 44 thousand residents.
The decree signed by Valditara, based on Istat data, had defined the criteria for allocating the funds between the Municipalities, which will be used for the creation and construction of new kindergartens as well as to conversion of properties previously intended for other uses. Here are those identified: presence of at least 60 children under the age of 3; service coverage less than 33%. Among the beneficiaries, there are also aggregations of municipalities, united under a lead bodywho in this way managed to reach the criteria necessary to participate in the tender.
