Two thousand years of history dotted with extraordinary events that have engraved the name of Lucca in the Time Line.
A unique format in Italy, Lucca Historiae Fest tells this journey on nine bastions of the Walls where as many historical reconstructions will be set up to retrace the various eras that characterized the city:
From 21st to 23rd June new spaces and new events with the involvement of a greater number of associations and re-enactors.
the Clock of Time
it is the section that tells the story of the city with historical reconstruction displays along the entire route of the Walls, events and shows, including the knights’ joust, the military camp with siege engines and various demonstrations, medieval fencing, the performances of flag-wavers and musicians, the historical Renaissance and 18th century dances.

Re-Knowing the Walls – An exhibition dedicated to the main city monument, from its design to its construction, from its initial defensive function to its conversion to civil use.

Armaments over the centuries – From sidearms to the first artillery, the evolution of armaments and military techniques told through faithful reproductions and multimedia material.

From this year a new area dedicated to children with historical games joins exhibitions and exhibitions on miniatures, a market exhibition with various exhibitors, a multimedia story of the history of Lucca, an artillery display, and tasting of typical local products.

History and miniatures – A journey through the centuries told by the art of miniatures, unique hand-sculpted and hand-painted pieces from different eras.
Time room – The reconstruction of the history of Lucca through digital tools and augmented reality.
Traditional flavors – A journey through the typical products and excellences of the Lucca area with the possibility of tasting dishes with ancient origins such as the famous Zuppa.

Inaugural aperitif
A convivial event open to citizens where they can meet and get to know some of the protagonists who will liven up the festival in the following two days.

Lucca, time travel – Lucca is a city with over two thousand years of history. A long journey marked by multiple events that will be retraced in this conference where archaeologist Elisabetta Abela, professor Alessandro Bedini and doctor Roberta Martinelli will speak.

Knights’ joust
Knights in full armor compete in tournaments with spears and swords and tests of equestrian skill.

Assault on the city
A leap into the Middle Ages with an army ready to attack the Walls. Reconstruction of a military camp where it will be possible to attend performances and educational moments among siege engines, groups of mercenaries, accompanying knights and artisans, drummers and flag-wavers, falconers and birds of prey.

Historical fencing
Medieval fencing fights and performances with moments of public involvement.

Flag shows
Performances by the Città Di Lucca flag-wavers who will involve the public with performances by musicians and flags as well as moments of historical dissemination.

Historical dances
Medieval and Renaissance dance shows with teaching sessions on the habits and customs of the time organized by Lo Studiorum.
On Sunday at the Real Collegio Società di Danza di Lucca and Società di Danza Circolo Pisano will hold 18th-19th century dance lessons open to the public and a dance party in historical philological costumes in homage to Elisa Baciocchi.

Games over time
A novelty of the 2024 edition entirely dedicated to the little ones with traditional activities and games that will be set up in the spaces of the Real Collegio by the Centro Provinciale Libertas Lucca and by Il Mondo di Fantàsia.

Belle Époque Café
In the par excellence living room of the Walls, an ancient bohemian café comes to life again. The Brunier Laboratory will entertain the public with dances, songs and period music.
