Just over a year ago we published the story of Barbara De Grazia, who loudly denounced that she had been defrauded by a fixer from Cosenza and that she had been deprived of her home by deception. An affair that forced her and her son into a real odyssey.

The terrible story of our fellow citizen Barbara De Grazia does not leave us indifferent. The lady was deprived of her home through deception by some individuals who were then arrested during the Reset operation conducted by the DDA of Catanzaro. In particular, Andrea Mazzei allegedly deceived Mrs. De Grazia and her son by taking away their property without paying the agreed sum and forcing them to live in an institution for four years. To all intents and purposes, this is an act of abuse and violence. Beyond the judicial matter, we believe that there is a macroscopic political issue; in fact, the Municipality of Cosenza, despite Mrs. De Grazia’s repeated requests for help, never took a concrete interest in the matter. Only postponements and silence on the part of the welfare sector which has recognized the objective drama of the situation.
This story does not surprise us because we know well the inability of Palazzo dei Bruzi to offer answers to the needs of people from Cosenza who experience difficult conditions. In fact there is an administrative continuity of the welfare sector, whether it is centre-right or centre-left the reality we live in gets worse day by day. There is no planning and investment on the horizon for social housing, the management of which continues to represent a mystery. The usual clientelistic logic prevails.
We hope and strongly ask for decisive action from Mayor Caruso and Councilor Buffone. It is necessary and urgent to intervene to try to put an end to this umpteenth page of shame that Mrs. De Grazia has courageously made public.
