Two men of Pakistani nationals died in an accident road accident which occurred on the afternoon of Monday 17 June in Portoverrara, a hamlet of Portomaggiore, in the Ferrara area. The accident happened along the San Carlo Trava provincial road.
The dynamics
The two victims were traveling in an Opel Zafira together with five other people, all of Pakistani nationality and all agricultural labourers, who were returning from work. According to initial investigations, the car went off the road autonomous way and ended up in the adjacent canal. One of the two victims lost his life instantly, while the other died while being transported to hospital. The cause of the leak could be the driver feeling ill or falling asleep.
The injured
The crash occurred shortly before 3pm between the town center of the hamlet and the “Baruffino” restaurant. Both victims were sitting in the passenger seats. The one who died instantly probably drowned, stuck between the sheets of the vehicle, while the other lost her life following fatal injuries sustained in the impact. The other five occupants who managed to get out of the cockpit on their own were injured and were transported to hospitals in the province and the region. A 42-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were transferred by ambulance to Sant’Anna di Cona, while a 43-year-old was hospitalized in Lagosanto hospital. A 34-year-old and a 31-year-old were instead airlifted to Bufalini in Cesena and Maggiore in Bologna. All are residents in the town of Portomaggiore.
The file
None of them are in danger of life and, once stabilized, they should be discharged already in the next few hours. Among them there would also be the driver of the vehicle. Already over the next few hours, as per practice in these cases, the Ferrara Prosecutor’s Office – pm on duty Ciro Alberto Savino – an investigation will open for injuries and double road homicide.
