A food and wine itinerary through the Apulian beauties to travel in vintage cars. That’s what it offers.”The Pearls of the South“, an initiative organized by Murgia museum Proscia and Bruno Of Cassano delle Murge which aims to enhance a territory «that offers notable tourist ideas on a national and international stage, and opportunities for leisure and promotion of local and typical products”.

The stages of the fifth edition of “Le Perle del Sud” connect the breathtaking viewsThe historical heritage and cultural, the sea and hidden places in the Regionthe historic centers and local folklore, the traditions of peasant civilizations, the museums «to bring participants to falling in love with places not known to the general publicguided in the discovery of the wonders hidden in these places.”

The event will start Tuesday 18 June with the arrival of the participants at the Murgia museum in Cassano delle Murge and a guided tour of the structure, recognized by Asi and affiliated with Aci, which hosts a restoration laboratory and a large exhibition of spare parts for multi-brand vintage cars and motorbikes, vehicles vintage transports already restored or preserved of great historical value starting from cars from the early twentieth century. Furthermore, objects of significant historical interest linked to daily life and entertainment of various eras are preserved in the museum.

“Le Perle del Sud” will then move to ad Acquaviva delle Fonti where a visit to the Cathedral of Sant’Eustachio Martire and the historic center is planned.

The next day the participants will move to Gravina in Puglia where the guided tour of the underground ravine, the rock church of San Michele, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Fondazione Ettore Pomarici Santomasi museum will be held, before leaving for Matera to visit the cistern house.

On 20 June, again in Matera, there will be a guided tour of the Sassi, a UNESCO heritage site, and of the typically furnished Grotta house. Then the departure for Taranto with a visit to the Cathedral of San Cataldo and the historic center. The following day, a visit to the MArTA national archaeological museum and the Aragonese Castle. The vintage cars will then leave for Ostuni where they will visit the Piana degli olive groves with the thousand-year-old trees typical of the Apulian landscape.

The next day a relaxing morning at the seaside and then a visit to the White City before leaving for Carovigno where the event will end on Sunday 23 June.
