For Sunday 16 June 2024, good weather conditions are expected across almost all of Italy, except for some sectors of two northern regions, where critical hydrogeological and hydraulic risks persist. Possible thunderstorms and local hailstorms cannot therefore be ruled out in these areas, also accompanied by sudden and strong gusts of wind.
Based on available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved, who are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the territories concerned, issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The weather phenomena, impacting the different areas of the country, could determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin which can be consulted on the Department’s website (http://www.protezionecivile.gov.it/).
On the basis of the foreseen and ongoing phenomena, it was evaluated for day dSunday 16 June, yellow alert on some sectors of Lombardy and Veneto.
The notice foresees an ordinary criticality for hydraulic risk in the following sectors of the Veneto: Basso Brenta-Bacchiglione and Fratta Gorzone, Adige-Garda and Lessini mountains, Po, Fissero-Tartaro-Canalbianco and Basso Adige. The yellow hydraulic criticality is linked to the persistence of high levels along the Adige river and to the specific criticalities that still affect the embankment body along the downstream section of Boara Pisani.
Ordinary criticality due to hydrogeological risk, however, in these sectors of the Lombardy: Valchiavenna, Varesine lakes and prealps, Lario and western prealps, Bergamo Orobie.
The meteorological and critical situation forecast for Italy is updated daily based on new forecasts and the evolution of the phenomena, and is available on the website of the Department of Civil Protection (http://www.protezionecivile.gov.it/), together with the general rules of conduct to be followed in case of bad weather. Information on regional alert levels, on specific critical issues that could concern individual territories and on the prevention actions adopted are managed by the territorial civil protection structures, in contact with which the Department will monitor the evolution of the situation.
