ROVIGO – The most courtedor perhaps the only one from what transpires, is Federico Frigato. The two candidates in the run-off on Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th took the pulse of the defeated candidate and his list which includes representatives of the two political parties. Edoardo Gaffeo and Valeria Cittadin don’t say it, but Frigato confirms it, explaining that on Thursday evening “I saw Gaffeo and some members of his staff”, while yesterday afternoon he went to a meeting with Cittadin. Two moments on which he reported last night at a meeting of his list of him, Rovigo loves each other, «even if on Gaffeo’s part it seemed like an interlocutory meeting, I didn’t understand exactly what he expects. I didn’t make any requests, it’s not my job: I listened and we will evaluate.”
Candidates on the ballot, no face to face
As for Gaffeo, his proposal for a public confrontation with Cittadin as was done five years ago with Monica Gambardella failed. «We are tired of boxes – says Cittadin – we have already made public comparisons. Let’s evaluate, but I highly doubt we’ll do a face-to-face meeting». The centre-right candidate, regarding the alliances, underlines that «we won’t make any. We also receive proposals, but we have no intention of making them, the political framework was decided at the time when forming the coalition.” As mentioned, however, there was a meeting yesterday afternoon with Frigato. As for Gaffeo, on the confrontation with the opponent «we have taken our steps by sending a proposal by email as they asked us, we will see», while on the comparisons he does not deny that there are meetings, but «we are in a phase of delicate discussion and I prefer to say nothing.” According to rumors, there was also an appointment with part of the Democratic Party and from Gaffeo himself comes a note with a conciliatory flavor with the Rovigo party with which he clashed for years until he resigned. It could also be an act of style, but now everything adds up, and the importance of the future nomination of Nadia Romeo to the Chamber in place of Alessandro Zan elected in Europe is underlined. «It is positive that Rovigo and Polesine will have a centre-left deputy. We are happy that this possibility has emerged.”
The other fronts are open
A PD meeting was scheduled for last night for evaluations. A summit that Palmiro Tosini, another loser in the first round, needs “to make any decisions, but there are no ongoing negotiations for the undersigned.” And since we’re talking about the Democratic Party, the appeal comes from the Generations area to vote for Gaffeo, but reiterating, as done in recent months, the indictment of “a minority of deaf leaders” who did “their own without listening to anyone, sacrificing an esteemed professional, Tosini, and resting on his laurels for having won a seat in Rome”, criticizing the provincial secretary who intervened “on several occasions with his head against the municipal administration”. Antonio Rossini is also in line with the absence of meetings «even if there remain a few hours for agreements», given that the agreements must be signed by tomorrow at 12. The other centre-right exponent, Ezio Conchi, highlights that he has offered «availability to the center-right, but without answers other than what was read in the newspapers of the refusal, with heavy terms such as not wanting to give care. I note that they don’t want to, but we had asked for nothing »This morning there will be a meeting of his list« and we will decide what to do».
