Casalpusterlengo – The citizens of Casalpusterlengo expressed appreciation to the operators of the Bergamo paratroopers association, Civil Protection unit, on the occasion of Agello Day, the celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the seaplane speed record achieved by Marshal Francesco Agello.
The association, which has long been active in the area with its own Lodi detachment, was the architect of the commemorative day dedicated by the Casale community to its illustrious son, who, in 1934, established his still unclimbed record, at the controls of the water race Macchi Castoldi 72, with a speed of 709.2 km/h. Record obtained on Lake Garda, in the area of responsibility of the 6th Wing of Ghedi of the Air Force: the “Red Devils” wanted to be present at the celebrations, among other things, making the mockup of the Tornado available to the numerous visitors.
The paratroopers of the Bergamo Paratroopers Association, Civil Protection Odv nucleus, paraded through the streets of the city center escorting the medal collection carried by Daniele Cavalli, member of the Anpd’i board of Milan. In the presence of the mayor and local authorities, a wreath was placed under the bas-relief of Francesco Agello – The “Silence” was played by Marta Agello.
The association also coordinated the logistics of the installations. Stefano Bertone, president of the Association, intervened by greeting those present and reiterating the commitment carried out in the area by the Bergamo Parachute Association, Civil Protection Odv nucleus, through its Lodi detachment led by coordinator Roberto Palaia.
There have been countless operational activities to benefit the safety of citizens. For this reason he was awarded the “Bravo” civic award of Casalpusterlengo, established in 2007 by the Cenacolo degli Artisti.
