Virtus Ragusa is playing for promotion to B- Ragusa Oggi

Virtus Ragusa left this morning for Pesaro to face coach Foglietti’s Italservice in game 2 of the promotion play-off, with a tap-off scheduled for tomorrow at 8.30pm. After winning game 1, the Ragusans have the opportunity to be promoted to the National Serie B championship with another success. In case of defeat, the series will be decided in the “match” scheduled for Thursday 20 June at PalaPadua, an option that Virtus wants to avoid after the disappointment of the first final against Capo d’Orlando.

Gianni Recupido, on the eve of the match which will be played over 1,000 km from home, urged the team to maintain concentration: “We must remain with our feet on the ground. We face an experienced and very tactical team, with very talented players. At home we were good at limiting them, but to have ambitions we must improve technically, tactically and above all mentally.”

During game 1, Ragusa built the decisive advantage in the third quarter, doubling the intensity on both sides of the field and putting the Pesaro attack in difficulty with an attentive defense, conceding only 62 points to the opponents. Recupido underlined: “Intensity is our best weapon, but we need to be tactically more careful and solve some problems that emerged during the match.” The match at the Palamegabox in Pesaro will take place on Sunday at 8.30pm and will be refereed by Di Santo (Chieti) and Galieri (Termoli).
