The Under 17s of Nuova Grosseto won the thirteenth “Viviano Angelucci” Memorial organized by Virtus Maremma in collaboration with Ribolla at the “Gaetano Scirea” in Ribolla, beating Venturina 1-0 at the end of a beautiful and exciting match.
The first match to put on a show was the consolation final for third and fourth place, which saw Follonica Gavorrano prevail 5-2 over Giovanile Amiata. Afterwards, Nuova Grosseto took to the field to compete for the trophy against Venturina: a vibrant and exciting match right from the start, with Nuova Grosseto taking the lead in the first half of the match with a goal from Balla; a result that remained unchanged in the second half of the game despite the Livorno team’s attempts to reach parity. At the awards ceremony, a brief memory from Luca Papini about Viviano Angelucci: “A happy man – he said –, a great person who put family and sport at the center, garnering the affection of an entire country and the esteem of all of us”.
The referee of the final, Danilo Diana from the Aia section of Grosseto, was awarded a medal by Ribolla president Andrea Maule; followed by the goalkeeper coach of Virtus Maremma Stefano Fatale who awarded Alessio Ricchi of Nuova Grosseto as the best goalkeeper; top scorer of the final phase of the event was Niccolò Chinellato of Follonica Gavorrano, awarded by the president of Virtus Maremma Omar Bindi; Natinel D’Avino of Venturina instead won the award for best player of the event presented by Riccardo Ortimini, vice president of Virtus. Following this, the cups went to the fourth-placed Giovanile Amiata from Omar Bindi, to the third-placed Follonica Gavorrano from Riccardo Ortimini, while Andrea Maule awarded Venturina as second place. From the hands of Francesca Angelucci, daughter of the late Viviano, and her nephew Leonardo, the trophy as winner of the Memorial was then officially awarded to Nuova Grosseto.
