Modena elections, twist: Ballestrazzi returns to the City Council – Politics

For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any type of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not sufficient. For this reason we ask those who read us and follow us every day to give us, if they wish, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of people from Modena and Emilia-Romagna who read us every day, is fundamental.

After the proclamation of the mayor Massimo Mezzetti, the Central Electoral Office at the Court also took steps to formalize the results of the lists, based on the preferences attributed to the various councillors. The data are, as always, slightly different from those released unofficially in recent days and in the case of the Action list, Paolo Ballestrazzi was elected with 97 votes (they were 96 in the unofficial data) and not Antonio Dell’Erario to whom 93 votes were awarded (there were 101). A last-minute twist that accompanies another particular event. With this election, a true doyen of the Modena institution returns to the City Council, having always been provincial secretary of the Republican Party and a political survivor of the First Republic. With long experience in the council, he was a municipal councilor with some ‘breaks’ from 1976 to 2009 and was also councilor of the Municipality of Modena from 1990 to 1994.

The composition of the City Council has been confirmed and is made up of 32 councillors: 22 belong to the mayor’s coalition which has passed the majority bonus (17 Pd, two Avs, one each for the 5 Star Movement, Modena Civica and Action) and the others to the minorities with the candidates for mayor Maria Grazia Modena and Luca Negrini, the coalition of which also obtains eight other councilors: five for Fratelli d’Italia and one each for the Negrini civic list, for Forza Italia and for Lega Modena.

Here is the composition of the City Council with the official preference data.
