Lamezia Terme – The day long awaited by faithful, devotees and all citizens has finally arrived. Today it is in fact the turn of the procession of Sant’Antonio. The journey of faith aimed at paying homage to the ‘Saint of Miracles’ started from the Sanctuary named after him to follow the usual route along the city streets which welcomed the statue with many flowers and confetti, without missing the usual moments of prayer and reflection.
The religious journey will have its worthy conclusion in the evening when the statue of the Saint will be welcomed into the Cathedral by the bishop Monsignor Serafino Parisi, from here it will then be dismissed for its ‘ascent’ to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria degli Angeli where the traditional blessing of the city accompanied by a fireworks display and songs praising the Powerful Intercessor. On June 22nd the last act of the feast of Saint Anthony with the Octave dedicated to the Doctor of the Church with the thanksgiving mass at 7.30 pm and, at the end, the blessing of the city with his relic which will ‘do’ its ascent into its niche.
