Rafael Landaverde comes from El Salvador: he was threatened with death after reporting drug dealing that the local mafia was circulating in his school. He had to leave his country to arrive in Italy: and thanks to the SAI project managed by Medtraining he followed a path of social and work inclusion, remaining with his family in Poggio Imperiale, where he lives and works today. Iyare Florence, on the other hand, arrived from Nigeria: after the reception period in the SAI project in Foggia managed by the provincial Arci she moved into a house with her husband and now works in a restaurant, while her daughter attends nursery school. Sadiqi Omid is in Italy from Afghanistan with his family: he was forced to leave his homeland due to the Taliban who did not like his work as a journalist. And then the stories of Samuel Naakour, of the SAI of Bovino, and of Shyhymaha Oleksandr, of the SAI of Lucera: all to reiterate the importance of the SAI, Reception and Integration System projects present in our territories as integrated reception services intended for refugees , unaccompanied foreign minors, applicants and holders of international protection.
Today a seminar took place in the Court room of Palazzo Dogana (piazza XX Settembre 20): “If you KNOW it, welcome it. Stories of integration” as part of the events in view of the “World Refugee Day”. A day promoted by various bodies, associations and local entities that manage SAI and inclusion projects for migrant citizens, with the patronage of the Municipality of Foggia and the Province of Foggia.
An opportunity to listen to voices, stories, work, housing and inclusive testimonies of the beneficiaries who have been guests or who are now welcomed in various SAI projects – Reception and Integration System – present in the territory: Manfredonia, Orsara di Puglia, Candela, Bovino , Cerignola, Casalnuovo Monterotaro, Foggia, Poggio Imperiale, Stornara, Lucera, San Ferdinando di Puglia. During the day, the numbers of SAIs in the province of Foggia were also illustrated, to encourage multicultural dialogue. Among the interventions also those of Rosa Massa, president of the Territorial Commission of Foggia; Viviana Matrangola, councilor for Migration Policies of the Puglia Region, Virginia Costa, head of the SAI Central Service.
