AVEZZANO – Favorable opinions with some reservations, constant and harmonious dialogue with the world of commerce and phone calls of appreciation from citizens: exactly two weeks have passed since the day in which the traders and trade associations of Avezzano were able to learn more about in depth, thanks to an open meeting strongly supported by the mayor Giovanni Di Pangrazio, the technical details of the decisive event total redevelopment work which will affect Corso della Libertà. images which were then projected in Piazza Risorgimento. In the Administration’s plans, the urban route will undergo an effective aesthetic and functional improvement, once the construction site starts (the resources have already been included in the Budget). The mayor just two weeks agoafter met the representatives of the world of commerce, he invited them to express in good time the agreements and disagreements regarding the three restyling projects presented. Once the first phase of presentation of the three project hypotheses has been archived, now it is time to start the second step, that is, the evaluation phase of the opinions received from the actors in the world of city commerce and more generally from citizens.
From the emails received from the Municipality, the third option was the most appreciated by traders, who also highlighted the need to create new parking spaces, as was already in the administration’s plans. The redevelopment of the main Corso, in fact, will go hand in hand with the creation near Piazza Matteotti of 180 new car parks, guarded and monitored, which will be functionally connected to Corso della Libertà, this will pave the way for an improvement in the perception of safety among the residents. From Confesercenti Avezzano the proposal was made to create, together with parking, also public toilets. The Corso della Libertà neighborhood committee, however, proposed the possibility of promoting public administration services with associated in-person management, also aimed at guaranteeing a form of supervision as well as reception. Confcommercio Avezzano underlined the issue of the future destination of the school complex Corradini-Fermifor which the mayor has never hidden his desire to activate an ambitious urban regeneration project, which includes new cultural spaces, the central headquarters of the University and the addition of recreational and hospitality activities.
The vision of a renewed Course of Freedom, which the city likes also in light of the various opinions received and the appreciative phone calls directed to the mayor himself, provides for new elegant paving and new street furniture, with restricted traffic zones in periods and times to be agreed, small squares for parking and relaxation, avoiding excessively impactful coverage. Piazza Matteotti and Corso della Libertà are the first “business cards” of the city for anyone arriving in Avezzano by train or bus. Furthermore, all the trees present will be preserved. Finally, some trade associations have asked the administration for a new technical meeting to explore further details on the operation.
