From the former Cantore to the Piacenza valleys, Summertime in Jazz starts on June 18th

Early departure already in June for Summertime in Jazz with two concerts specifically designed to fit into the program of SummerCult 2024, the event that enriches the city of Piacenza with events throughout the summer, by virtue of the synergy between the Piacenza and Vigevano Foundation and the Municipality of Piacenza. The former has made available the space, unused for many years, in the courtyard of the former Caserma Cantore (Stradone Farnese n. 39) which will see new life thanks to a series of events, including the two of the Piacenza Jazz Club. In case of bad weather the concerts will be moved to the Sala degli Arazzi of the Alberoni Gallery (via Emilia Parmense n. 77).

The Foundation has always supported the association, promoting its activities in a decisive way, together with the important contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region and all the Municipalities and Pro loco in which events will be held for this long journey ‘summer. The event also boasts the patronage of the Province of Piacenza. It starts on Tuesday 18 June at 9.30 pm with a concert entitled “Amazing Grace” which will see the fifty members of the band on stage Spirit Gospel Choir and the five of the Spirit Band directed by Andrea Zermani, also on sax. Super special and highly anticipated guest directly from Cleveland (USA) will be Ron I. Hubbard, better known as Pastor Ron, who has always shared many special moments with Spirit and with whom there is a great feeling. The title chosen for the evening echoes that of the gospel hymn probably best known and loved over the centuries, a symbol of union and hope, written by a converted slave trader who became a pastor and later adopted by everyone, but in particular by Afro-descendant communities , for the topics covered. The free entry evening required reservations but seats have been sold out for weeks.

Complete change of scene with the second concert which will see the piano and accordion duo formed by Danilo Rea and from Luciano Biondini Thursday 20 June at 9.30pm again at the former Caserma Cantore in a program entitled “What are clouds”. The focus of the music played that evening will be the poets of Italian song who will be given new life thanks to the reinterpretation that the two musicians will give, in a perfect combination of poetry and emotion. An alchemy between two improvisational styles that are lost and found again, in a totally unexpected and therefore compelling game of harmonic movements that makes each concert unique. The perfect fusion of creative exuberance blends with intimate melodies capable of recalling, as if on a journey, the great history of Italian music. Tickets to attend the concert can be purchased at the Piacenza Jazz Club headquarters (via Musso, 5) or online on the Vivaticket website.
