Como, shocking report: “Meloni’s Roman ax cuts 9 million euros from the Como municipalities”

“The Meloni Government will cut 9 million euros over the next five years from the municipalities of the province of Como. We thank Minister Giorgetti and the spending review of the Ministry of Economy and Finance” denounces the regional councilor of the Democratic Party, Angelo Orsenigo.

“We are faced with a direct attack on the Como municipalities which see Meloni’s ax falling on essential services such as the maintenance of public offices, kindergartens, transport and, above all, social welfare services – continues the Como councilor – We are talking about five-year cuts 1.5 million for the Municipality of Como. Looking at the largest centers in our province: 323 thousand euros for the Municipality of Cantù, 347 thousand euros for Mariano Comense, 270 thousand euros for Erba. “Irony” of the cuts: the Government also puts administrations of its own political color in difficulty”.

“In Lombardy, over the next five years, the municipalities will be cut by 200 million euros. A decree which, among other things, hits hardest the Lombard administrations that have completed the projects financed with PNRR funds. In short, the message is clear: “Mayor, were you good at winning a European tender? We will cut your funds” – continues Orsenigo – The small municipalities are the ones who will pay the highest price. With current spending already low, the cuts will hit social services, family contributions, asset maintenance, cultural initiatives and elderly care hard. Rome wants to shut down our municipalities” concludes Orsenigo.
