Italo Farnetani: “I advise the Prime Minister to stop off at a Green Flag beach and I appeal to her to abolish holiday duties by law”
Relaxing with daughter Ginevra before the summit with the adults. It is not the first time that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni brings her little girl with her on the occasion of institutional commitments. And it also happened in these days preceding the opening – tomorrow 13 June – of the G7 summit in Borgo Egnazia, the location chosen in the municipality of Fasano in Puglia. The pediatrician Italo Farnetani promotes Meloni’s choice – in the role of mother: “She did well – he comments to Adnkronos Salute – in taking her little girl on an ‘away trip’. It is a positive choice above all for three aspects. The first which is it is important to demonstrate that women’s work can be reconciled with the role of mother and that professional commitment of any type and at any level must not be an obstacle or limit to the role of mother”. “In practice – he continues – they want to see them move safely in the world, because they will learn lessons from their image of security and determination and will feel reassured and protected. Meloni’s daughter is about to turn 8 and is in the phase of concrete operations, that is, she thinks about what he sees. And by observing the mother, in this case in the context of the G7, he will gain confidence without fear of moving in the outside world and among the people. Farnetani explains that he has “always supported this approach. Already over 20 years ago I suggested that artist mothers could conduct their summer tours, so as not to miss out on professional opportunities, but bringing their daughters with them, perhaps with the help of a good babysitter. And I reiterated the same concept when in June 2016 Giorgia Meloni ran for mayor of the Municipality of Rome, when she was at the end of her pregnancy. I then highlighted that this was not incompatible with her role as a mother. Likewise in November 2022 when her daughter was with her at the G20 in Bali”.
The pediatrician’s advice is for all parents, he assures. “Whatever role they have within society, let them take an example from Giorgia Meloni. The invitation is to always carry their children with them as much as possible. Children and adolescents have notable and clear growth advantages, the more they are together with their parents in general , and when they can move in new environments. They are all mental stimulation.”
