FERRARA – Rags fly in Ferrara, in the aftermath of the administrative vote: the new Northern League mayor on Tuesday Alan Fabbri had attacked the centre-left mayoral candidate in a press conference Fabio Anselmoaccusing him of not even having made him a congratulatory phone call for the victory, unlike the governor Stefano Bonaccini.
Anselmo’s reply arrived 24 hours later. In a video, published by Estense.com, Cucchi and Aldrovandi’s lawyer immortalizes a phone call during which councilor Marco Gulinelli calls him to compliment him on the electoral campaign. During the phone call Anselmo is asked if he intends to remain in the council, on the opposition benches. And the lawyer replies: “He who laughs last laughs best”.
At which point a voice in the background begins to insult him in dialect and “that other one can…”, probably referring to Ilaria Cucchi. “Who is it, Alan?” Anselmo asks his interlocutor who tries to downplay it, “Alan thank you for your aplomb, this is very precious to me, you are a gentleman”, is the conclusion of the exchange.
Not only does Fabbri not apologize to Anselmo. Indeed, in a note, the mayor goes on the counterattack, claiming that his opponent in the latest municipal elections is mounting an unserious controversy “in an attempt to gain a few more hours in the spotlight and a bit of space in the newspapers”.
In his reply, Fabbri writes: “I understand the disappointment of the lawyer Anselmo and his frustration at having been rejected so clearly by the people of Ferrara, but it does not seem serious or even dignified on his part to continue to launch accusations against me, in such a rancorous way.” As for the content of the phone call, he simply wrote: “I don’t know what offenses the lawyer is referring to, and I don’t even understand the references to his partner, who I don’t know and who didn’t even participate in the election campaign.”
