Bees and honey, the Tuscany Region provides support for over 1.5 million euros

The Tuscany Region will support the 2024/2025 beekeeping season with 1 million and 20 thousand euros, in favor of the interventions carried out by the most representative beekeeping associations. Training initiatives, technical assistance, the fight against bee diseases and the promotion of honey may be financed.

Furthermore, the Region makes available another 500 thousand euros which will be allocated to beekeepers for interventions aimed at fighting diseases, repopulating bees, rationalizing transhumance and purchasing machinery and management systems for honey production.

The first notice, which concerns the actions implemented by the associated forms, will be published on the BURT on 19 June 2024 and applications can be submitted from the following day until 12 July.

“This is a package of important tenders to which the Region has paid a lot of attention – comments Eugenio Giani, president of the Tuscany Region -, considering the very difficult moment that beekeepers are going through due to the anomalous meteorological cycle which has negatively affected the activity of bees and flowering periods.

The vice-president and councilor for agri-food announces that in relation to the 2023/2024 year, which ends on 30 June, the Region has in any case managed to fully finance the applications presented and, at the same time, communicates that the calls for tenders carried out by beekeepers are being prepared and will be released as soon as possible.
