In view of the local elections scheduled for Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, the Municipality of Bagheria has created, as for every election and referendum, the web section dedicated to electoral information on the municipal website.

  • With law 15 January 1991, n. 15, they were allowed, in the event of impossibility, to access their voting section with a wheelchair, or to vote, upon presentation of a specific medical certificate issued by the local health authority, in another section without architectural barriers and appropriately furnished (articles 1 and 2 of law 15/1991); furthermore, it has been established (law 5 February 1992, n. 104, article 29, paragraph 1) that municipalities organize specific transport services, on election day, to make it easier for disabled voters to reach the polling station (another method not considered by many municipalities). The third modality of which is met
    people with disabilities, is the so-called “assisted voting”, governed by Law 5 February 2003, n. 1. Assisted voting constitutes the only exception allowed to the principle according to which the vote is expressed personally by the voter and applies to blind people, hand amputees, those suffering from paralysis or another impediment of similar severity and to disabled voters unable to express their votes independently. right to vote, who can be accompanied to the booth by another voter registered in the electoral lists of a municipality in the Republic. At the request of the interested party, the annotation of the right to assisted voting is inserted in his electoral card by affixing a
    symbol or code, in compliance with the provisions on personal confidentiality so as to reduce the knowledge of sensitive data including the description. The certificates, issued only by medical officers designated by the health companies, must certify that physical infirmity prevents the voter from casting his vote without the help of others.
    Therefore, in the presence of the annotation on the electoral card or a medical certificate, no margin of discretion in admission to assisted voting is allowed to the President of the electoral office.
