Tony Esposito special guest for “Yes I know…my way”, concert tribute to Pino Daniele, closes in triumph, at the Sant’Agostino theater in Benevento, the 2023/2024 Artistic Season of the Accademia di Santa Sofia, artistically directed by Filippo Zigante and Marcella Parziale, with Aglaia McClintock as scientific consultant, and proposed in collaboration with the University of Sannio and the Benevento Conservatory, which from this year Banco Bpm has also joined to support culture and promote its diffusion on
territories also through musical initiatives.
Together with the great Tony Esposito, Pino Daniele’s beloved musician and legendary percussionist, on stage we had the pleasure of listening to some great professionals masterfully assisted by Umberto Aucone on sax and excellent arrangements, all extraordinary protagonists of the evening: Sally Cangiano guitar and voice, Enzo Del Basso percussion, Domenico De Marco drums, Pino Mazzarano guitar, and Michele Visconte electric bass.
Particularly touching, in an evening dedicated to remembrance and tribute, was the moment in which Tony retraced, also with archive images and videos, his long friendship with Pino Daniele and his entire legendary band, and the numerous experiences of a life full of successes and human events, even troubled ones, but always lived in the name of great love for music and for the unique ability it has to unite people and always convey superior values.
The emotional texts and timely narration dedicated to the life of Pino Daniele were instead edited with great attention and sensitivity by the actress Monica Carbini.
Performing on stage with the professional artists we also appreciated the talented guys who won the competition linked to the long and substantial Academy project entitled ‘Pino Daniele – Between notes, emotions and passions’ created to bring the music of Pino Daniele
in high schools in Benevento and the province. The singers, prepared by Umberto Aucone, Irene Carfora, IS Fermi, Montesarchio and
Carlotta Pinto, Guacci State High School, Benevento; and the actors/narrators, led by Monica Carbini, Anuarite Bisarco, Liceo Statale Guacci, Benevento and Simone Pucillo, Ipsar Le Streghe, Benevento.
The school project coordinated by Marialuisa Russo, also involved as stage director, was briefly remembered by the directors Domenica Di Sorbo, Gabriella Zoschg and Maria Buonaguro, after a brief introduction by Marcella Parziale and thanks
details by Salvatore Palladino President of the Academy. Ettore Acerra, Director of the Regional School Office, was the special “teacher” who proposed, as the usual prelude to the concert, a speech entitled “Music as
universal language”.
