Turnout in Emilia-Romagna on the first day of voting: 18.35%. The data in the region, in Bologna and in the province. Polling stations open today from 7am to 11pm

BOLOGNA – “In the last European elections the number of voters dropped, let’s hope it doesn’t drop further” was the hope of former prime minister Romano Prodi at the polling station. On the first day of voting, 8 June, Emilia-Romagna brings more voters to the polls than at a national level. When the polls closed at 11pm, the turnout was 18.35% compared to 14.64% in Italy and 15.58% in the North-East. The next survey will concern turnout data at 12pm on Sunday 9 June.

In Bologna, 54,132 voters voted in the European Parliament elections, equal to 17.87% of citizens entitled to vote in the Municipality.

The turnout was also driven by the fact that voting was also held in 255 municipalities (more than half of the electorate) for the renewal of the mayor and the administration. The regions where the most voting was done in Emilia-Romagna are Piedmont (where there are regional elections) and Tuscany (where voting is held in Florence and Prato).
