Elections, polling stations open until 11pm

ROVIGO – At 3pm on Saturday 8 June the polls opened in the province of Rovigo and throughout Italy to elect the 76 Italian members who will be part of the new European Parliament. Voting takes place on Saturday until 11pm and on Sunday, June 9, from 7am to 11pm. At these same hours polling stations are also open for the part-session administrative which will involve 3,698 Municipalities throughout Italy.

In the province of Rovigo, in addition to the capital for the renewal of the city council, we also vote ad Ariano nel Polesine, Arquà Polesine, Bagnolo di Po, Bergantino, Bosaro, Calto, Canda, Castelguglielmo, Castelmassa, Castelnovo Bariano, Ceneselli, Corbola, Costa Di Rovigo, Crespino, Frassinelle Polesine, Gaiba, Gavello, Guarda Veneta, Lendinara, Loreo, Melara, Occhiobello, Papozze, Pettorazza Grimani, Pincara, Polesella, Pontecchio Polesine, Rovigo, Salara, San Bellino, Villanova Del Ghebbo and Villanova Marchesana.

In Rovigo some voters showed up at Casalini and Tintoretto already on Saturday morning, but were clearly invited to return from 3pm. Also visiting the polling stations was vicar of the Quaestor of Rovigo, the First Director of the State Police Maria Olivieri.

For the local elections the possible run-off round will take place on Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th June. Over 51 million Italians are called to vote for the European elections, 198,620 in the province of Rovigo. Over 17 million for administrative elections.

The first report on voter turnout is expected after 11pm on Saturday 8 June.
