“Take me home”: with the Jesi Rotary Club a push to fight food and wine waste

«The idea – explains Ragaini – was born from one of our partners, Emanuele Zannini and now, after having obtained the patronage of the Municipality, “Take me home” enters the implementation phase. The growth and well-being achieved after the Second World War caused what had been the culture of recovery and recycling in Italy for centuries to disappear. And what is all his social, cultural, economic value. If we think about the 1.3 billion tons of food that are wasted in the world every year and how much they cost the economy and the environment, for example with regard to the consumption that intensive cultivation and livestock farming entails, we realize how absurd it is. With these containers we want to encourage what should be the normality of bringing home what was paid for but not consumed at the restaurant, from food to a bottle of wine.”

Present for Rotary were the vice president and project commission Maurizio Marchegiani, Alessandra Sassaroli and the communications manager Matteo Baleani, Cristina Brunori for Confartigianato he explains: «The possibility of finishing uneaten food and wine at home goes hand in hand with the enormous value of the products of the many excellent local products, if we think about the obstacle to purchasing a bottle of wine so often represented by the idea which will not be drunk in full at the table.” For Francesco Barchiesi of Cna: «We couldn’t help but join an initiative that provides both an answer in the fight against waste and an inspiration for trade».

According to l‘councillor Marguccio: «Appropriate use of food and what is consumed is a real educational act that we must take charge of».
