Horse returning to Aversa, also a Caivanese among those arrested

After a long investigation into car thefts with the classic subsequent extortion with the ‘return horse’, the Carabinieri of Trentola Ducenta resulted in five arrests for car thefts which occurred between Aversa and the surrounding area.

The investigation by the military forces led to the arrest of Vincenzo De Mare35 years old from Afragola, Francesco De Rosa48 years old, e Franco Petriccione45 years old, all from Afragola, Pasquale Russo47 years old from Carinaro, e Alfonso De Rosa42 years old from Caivano.

The first complaint to the Trentola police started the investigation after the first request for 800 euros to get the car back, then the investigative activity developed through the testimonies of the victims, the analysis of telephone records and subsequent wiretaps , with the use of geolocation systems and video surveillance images. There were ten thefts of cars parked in Aversa between February and May, as well as subsequent illicit conduct that the suspects allegedly engaged in to try to extort money from the owners of those cars.

The investigators accuse Pasquale Russo and Francesco De Rosa of receiving stolen goods: they would have acted as intermediaries in the ‘return horses’. Alfonso De Rosa, however, has to face charges of extortion. The latter, on 21 April, allegedly took a thousand euros from the owner of a Panda that he had stolen and committed this crime while was under house arrest, a circumstance which pushed the Prosecutor’s Office to also charge him with the crime of tax evasion.
