Varese Hippodrome, the League asks for an ad hoc commission

«We have registered, as announced in the last Sports commission, a request to convene the Sports commission to be held in person and at the racecourse, together with the company that manages the property owned by the Municipality and the interested parties». This is the comment – reported by varesenoi.it – of the deputy leader of the League in the city council in Varese, Stefano Angei.

«After what emerged in Wednesday’s session, regarding the concrete risk that the horse racing season could be put in serious difficulty, if not even cancelled, we decided to verify the situation in person. In addition to the sporting tradition of Varese horse racing, we must also take into account and protect the approximately 50 families who work thanks to this structure and who the administration must protect in every way”, concludes Angei.

«We learn (…) how, in all likelihood, the horse racing season is not at risk – he declares Barbara Bison, Leader of the League – Which is good news, both for operators in the sector and for the city. However, nothing is yet certain and therefore, as St. Thomas would do, we will ask for the competent commission to be convened, to have a real understanding of the situation.

The Varese racecourse is an asset that deserves adequate consideration and protection, also due to its important tourist-attraction vocation. As I have already said in the city council, we expect that in the new PGT the administration will give adequate space to a rethinking of the entire structure, in order to give it new impetus, respecting and protecting a long-standing Varese tradition”.
