Cagliari, Paris and Gorizia: the wines of the Quartu winery conquer Italy and Europe

Three prestigious competitions and as many gold medals for the wines of the Quartu winery, based in Maracalagonis. Gold was won at the “Grenaches du Monde” in Paris by Cannonau Helena from the 2023 harvest. Gold also for Vermentino Arenas and Kalais at the international competition in Cagliari.

It also happened at the “Gorizia city of wine” competition, an international wine competition. The gold in this case came with the 2021 Moscato and with the Vermentini doc Sardegna 2023 Arenas and Kalais.

«With the Moscato Pascas – says the president – ​​we have received the great golden medal, a prize of absolute, maximum, prestige».

In short, a winery, that of Quartu, which focuses entirely on quality, with 90% of the wine ending up in the bottle and with a small quantity being sold in the cellar in bulk. In the last harvest, approximately 5 thousand quintals of grapes were delivered to the cellar. There are 40 members.

The president of the wine industry, which has been relaunched in recent years, is Giuseppe Farci. The vice president is Roberto Ibba, the councilors Francesca Masala, Raffaele Farci, Enzo Zuncheddu, Piero Sarritzu and Alfio Contini. The winemaker is Lucien Angei. «Everything is focusing on quality – says Lucien Angei – we have high quality wines: the prestigious awards in recent months are proof of this. Quality is born in the vineyard.”

This year the Quartu winery also participated in Vinitaly. «An important presence – says the president Giuseppe Farci – because the market can only be conquered with quality. In Paris, Cagliari and Gorizia, in the last two months we have had extraordinary recognitions that reward the winery’s activity. The goal is to expand our market into restaurants, hotels and catering.”

The Quartu winery was founded in 1926 and has experienced extraordinary vintages, with the harvest of 180 thousand quintals of white, red, Malvasia and Moscato grapes. Then in the 1980s the crisis, the closure of the Maracalagonis factory, with its reopening in 2005 and the closure of the Quartu headquarters also due to a logistical choice. Now the new glories.
