A sparkle of sounds and colors spread harmoniously, clearly communicating the beauty of making music together. This is the strong point ofOrchestra of the “Catanoso – De Gasperi” Institutethe absolute protagonist, last Wednesday, in the Auditorium of the Reggio Institute, of the end-of-year concert, included in the program “Let’s make a note – Reessages of music 2024”.

Final stage of a series of events, undertaken last May 28th with the performance of the Harp and Saxophone classes and continued on May 29th with the performance of the Horn and Trumpet classes. An emotional journey, that of the musical instrument students, masterfully directed by Maestro Roberto Filippo Caridi, who enraptured those present with a varied and persuasive repertoire, ranging from the captivating sound of “Cha cha del sol” to the contagious rhythm of ” Havana”, passing through “Canon n. 1”, in which the tonal quality of the individual instruments, with their pace, was transformed into a surprising choral embrace.

Also conquering the audience was the interpretation of timeless successes, such as “Il cielo in una stanza” by Gino Paoli, signed in 1960, the first song by the author to reach the general public and the special version of “I cento passi”, a column soundtrack of the film of the same name, directed in 2000 by Marco Tullio Giordana and dedicated to the life of Peppino Impastato. The jewel in the crown of the concert was the performance of the song “Ta Tichia tu cohoriommu” with the lyrics in Calabrian Greek, which allowed the students to rediscover how precious it is to know their own cultural roots.

The impressions of the Professors

“Playing a text with the precious help of Maestro Caridi meant entering a new language – explains the Professor Manuela Labate – Domenico Rodà’s poem speaks of a town that is left alone, uninhabited, but the walls themselves speak.” Music and words to tell your origins and become custodians of your memory. “Congratulations to the boys who complete such a difficult journey, which requires commitment and dedication – states the Director of the “Catanoso – De Gasperi” Comprehensive Institute from the stage Prof. Marco Geria – Special thanks go to the teachers Roberto Filippo Caridi, Bruno Polimeni, Maria Grazia Polimeni and Alessandro Monorchio, who follow them and encourage them on a daily basis”.
