“A unique opportunity that the wineries of Basilicata have to make the wines of our land known on non-European markets”. This was said by the regional councilor for agricultural and forestry policies of Basilicata, Alessandro Galella, presenting the measure “Promotion on the markets of third countries”, financed with community funds. The Measure is included in the National Support Plan for the wine sector (Pns Vino). For the 2024/2025 campaign, the Ministry of Agriculture has allocated 452,313 euros to the Basilicata Region, and to obtain funding, individual wineries or winemakers’ associations must participate in a call which expires on 8 July.
“There isn’t much time. Promotion is one of the elements in which we are most lacking, especially at an international level. On the occasion of June 2nd, we brought our food and wine products to Monte Carlo in a ceremony at the Italian Embassy to celebrate Republic Day. – said Galella – Our wines, the jewel in the crown of the area, were highly appreciated but no one knew about them. With the tender we can promote beyond the borders of the European Union, positioning DOC and IGP wines in market segments of considerable volume and size, such as the Chinese or American one”.
