There is also Gianluca Gaidano, 62 years old, Novara head of Hematology at the «Maggiore», among those under investigation by the Turin prosecutor’s office and the financiers of the Economic Unit in the context of the investigation into the Crt Foundation of which he is a member of the steering committee.
Gaidano is full professor of Blood Diseases at the Department of Translational Medicine at the University of Eastern Piedmont where he chairs the School of Medicine and in recent years he has been the Rector’s delegate for Internationalization and Research. He is also a candidate for the position of pro-rector in the next elections.

According to the investigators, the alleged fruit of the “hidden pact” is, or rather would be, also the long list of appointments that the suspects (in addition to Gaidano are Corrado Bonadeo, Paolo Garbarino, Michele Rosboch, Davide Franco, Elisabetta Mazzola and Antonello Monti, this last the only member of the Board) they sanctioned on the night of April 22, 2024.
As regards the appointments in the subsidiary Ream Sgr Spa – mainly active in the management of real estate investment funds, 1.4 billion in assets – the board of directors had chosen as president (taking the place of Giovanni Quaglia) Antonello Monti, entrepreneur agricultural farmer from Vercelli very close to Palenzona, and Caterina Bima, owner of a notary’s office in Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, as vice-president.
Crt, as shown in the foundation’s financial statements, held a percentage of participation equal to 1% of the share capital as of 31 December 2023, unchanged compared to the previous year. The company, whose shareholder structure includes the Crt and other Piedmontese and Ligurian banking foundations, manages, among other things, the Social & Human Purpose Fund, the Social & Human Purpose 2 Fund, the Piemonte CASE Fund and the VIP Fund – Enhancement and Innovation Piedmont – of which the Foundation is a shareholder.
For Equiter Spa – investor and financial advisor in the infrastructure sector – the board of directors had instead indicated Davide Canavesio as vice president and Simona Cornaglia as advisor. Canavesio, entrepreneur in the food and digital sector, born in 1971, former president of the young entrepreneurs of Confindustria Turin from 2010 to 2013, in the past he was CEO of two Turin-based investee companies, Tne and Environment Park. Cornaglia is a Turin lawyer and former collaborator of Michele Vietti’s firm. At the end of 2022, the assets managed by the Piazza San Carlo company, chaired by Carla Patrizia Ferrari, exceeded 1.3 billion. Around 944 million are invested in third-party funds managed in infrastructure and healthcare.
Canavesio also took up the baton left by Massimo Lapucci as president and CEO of the Ogr-Crt Consortium Company, one of the foundation’s most important investments in the area in recent years: a project costing over 100 million. Bima, in this round of appointments, was instead designated vice president. Other councilors are Ciro Cattuto, Marcello Durbiano, Luisa Papotti, Pierluigi Poggiolini and Antonio Robazza. The effective auditors are Anna Maria Di Mascio and Gianni Maria Stornello, while Francesco Neri is the sole auditor.
The third sector
The Foundation’s board of directors also designated the new members of the Board of Auditors of Fondazione Sviluppo e Crescita Crt, which will remain in office for four financial years: Luca Poma, president; Stefano Carpaneto and Gianluca Pantaleo, effective reviewers.
In the last session of Palenzona-branded appointments, the corporate bodies of the Ulaop Crt Foundation, active in the third sector, were also renewed and will remain in office for the next three years dealing with parenting and community. The board of directors has indicated Anna Maria Di Mascio as president, Elisabetta Mazzola, vice president, Margherita Boero, Valentina Iebole and Elide Tisi, directors; Marco Casale.
