The new appointment with “Walks & good taste” will be held on Saturday 22 June 2024, the format of oil tourism experiences in Umbria along the Dop Umbria extra virgin olive oil road organized in collaboration with the Ass. the olive tree and the broom. On Saturday 22 June the spotlight will be on Perugia, with a visit to the Frantoio Batta for the tasting of the award-winning Dop Umbria oil and to the Abbey of San Pietro for the concert of the Malastrana Duo composed of Moses Chiavoni, on clarinet and bass clarinet and Luciano Biondini on the accordion.

The “Walks & good taste” project conceived by the Strada dell’olio evo Dop Umbria in order to expand Umbria’s oil tourism offer and systematize outdoor activity experiences, giving life to a quality tourism proposal and experiential that makes known the beauties of minor Umbria, its landscape and production peculiarities; this year it is renewed by combining it with the exhibition “Music and tastings among the olive trees and in the abbeys of Umbria” thus giving life to a calendar of walks that will lead visitors to discover the Umbrian villages with a high olive-growing vocation, among the olive trees and on the farms and mills associated with the Strada dell’olio evo Dop Umbria, places where you can taste extra virgin olive oil combined with other local products of excellence and direct experiences in the places of production, to then conclude with a cultural experience with a visit to one of the Umbrian abbeys where you can enjoy a live music concert.

The appointment on Saturday 22 June 2024 in Perugia

Saturday 22 June will be an afternoon of valorisation of nature and the territory with a walk in the olive groves surrounding Perugia organized by the Ass. L’Olivo e la Ginestra departing at 4.00 pm (For info and reservations: Louis Montagnoli – 347 1715155 or by email [email protected]); of quality food and wine with a visit to the Frantoio Batta di Perugia, a company with over three thousand olive trees grown on 12 hectares of owned land, where you can taste the award-winning Batta Olio Dop Umbria, which comes from the Leccino, Dolce Agogia and Frantoio varieties, recently first place in the Ercole Olivario 2024 national competition; and art with a visit to the Abbey of San Pietro, a Benedictine complex founded in 966 by Abbot Pietro, which stands where already in the 6th century. it was the ancient Cathedral, in a sacred Etruscan-Roman area. The Abbey of San Pietro, home to the Faculty of Agriculture of Perugia with its medieval botanical garden, will host the concert of the Malastrana Duo composed of Moses Chiavoni on clarinet and bass clarinet and Luciano Biondini on accordion.

The Abbey of San Pietro in Perugia is one of the properties of the Foundation for Agricultural Education of Perugia, which promotes innovation, quality and sustainability also thanks to its own agricultural company which, in addition to safeguarding the historical genetic heritage of the Chianina breed, produces a wide selection of certified products: Extra Virgin Olive Oil obtained from centuries-old trees, legumes, different qualities of wines including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Vermentino, Grechetto and Viognier.

There are two other events of “Walks & good taste. Music and tastings among the olive trees and in the Abbeys of Umbria” which will characterize the summer:
Saturday 10 August 2024 in Todi (Pg) with a walk among the olive trees and places of art, ending with a tasting of oil from the Frantoio La Casella di Todi and wines at the Nido dell’Aquila where the concert of the “Tritone Trio”.

Saturday 7 September 2024 in Foligno (Pg) for a walk among the olive trees and in the holm oak forest surrounding the Abbey of Santa Croce in Sassovivo, with a visit to the Abbey on the return, tasting of the az’s extra virgin olive oils. Clarici farm and Andrea Rellini’s concert.

The “Walks & good taste” will give way in autumn, to the 27th edition of Frantoi Aperti in Umbria which this year will be held from 19 October to 17 November 2024.

The concerts are part of the “Music among the Olive Trees and Abbeys in Umbria” series. PR – FESR 2021-2027 Priority 1 – OS 1.3 – Action 1.3.4 “Call for the support of projects in the live entertainment sector”.
