Accompanied by his party colleague, the senator from Barletta Dario Damiani, and by the regional councilor of FI Giuseppe Tupputi, the minister met with the leaders of the Port Authority, of the Port System Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea in the person of the president Ugo Patroni Griffi, the mayor Cosimo Cannito and a representation of local administrators.
“These are works, such as the dredging of the seabed already underway and the lengthening of the breakwaters to be built soon, of which I was already aware, having also dealt with it in the last legislature as group leader in the Budget Committee” declared Pichetto Fratin , reiterating the ministry’s attention to such interventions. After having examined the progress of the works, the Minister of the Environment reached the nearby Port Authority where he met Commander Antonino Indelicato; with the mayor of Barletta Cannito he focused on the waste cycle, while, in dialogue with some local administrators, he underlined the importance of the European vote on 8 and 9 June. The minister then discussed some local environmental issues of particular public interest with the lawyer Michele Cianci. Finally, before leaving the city, the head of the Environment Department went to the Government Territorial Office to meet the Prefect Silvana D’Agostino.
“I thank our minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin for having accepted the invitation, mine and the regional coordination of Forza Italia, to visit the port of Barletta for the first time in a phase of great excitement thanks to the works for which they were allocated by the ministry substantial funding – states Senator Damiani – the minister has assured that he will continue to pay great attention to these interventions, necessary to restore impetus to an infrastructure which, valorised as it deserves, will be a driving force for new economic development for the entire territory. He guaranteed Furthermore, full collaboration in addressing the environmental issues of greatest urgency for the territory”.
