Florence, owner of a place attacked by bottles in Santo Spirito

Attacked only because he had scolded them. It happened during the evening of last Saturday, shortly after 11.30pm when police cars intervened in Piazza Santo Spirito. According to an initial reconstruction by the police, the owner of a place – a young man of 32 years – had noticed that something was wrong because he would have seen a few too many customers going to the bathroom. At this point he decided to go and check what was happening inside the service room.

Before entering the bathroom, the owner would have noticed a smell of smoke: shortly afterwards he was surprised patrons to smoke inside the venue.

The young man then allegedly told the customers, in a very civil manner, that smoking was not allowed inside the restaurant. But in response some of the boys allegedly attacked him even going so far as to hit him on the head with a bottle. At that point the small group would have disappeared and then moved away before the arrival of the patrol cars.

The police listened to the victim’s story and in the next few hours we will try to give a name and a face to the protagonists of this affair also through viewing the security cameras located in the area.

The Santo Spirito area has for years been one of the most problematic neighborhoods from a security and public order point of view. In recent weeks, in fact, a minor was attacked with a knife while he was in the square. To try to remedy this state of affairs, Palazzo Vecchio has employed stewards who are also called to guard Santo Spirito from Friday to Saturday, and until 6 January 2025.
