The presenter of “Linea Verde” Giuseppe Calabresewhich everyone now knows by the nickname Peppone, yesterday received from Prefect of Potenza the title of Knight of the Republic.
The ceremony took place in the Teatro Stabile of his hometown and the title, which comes from the President of the Republic, recognizes and rewards the commitment of the conductor from Potenza dedicated above all to promotion of the Lucanian territory but also of its scenic beauty and culinary traditions.
Peppone Calabrese was sent to Antonella Clerici’s “La prova del cuoco” on Rai 1. He later moved to “Linea verde”, a Sunday morning program of which he has been host since 2018.
In 2021 he was summoned to present the delivery of the certificates of honor to the standard bearers of the Republic at the Quirinale and in 2022 he was appointed ambassador of the Mediterranean Diet in the World from the “Living Museum of the Mediterranean Diet” in Pioppi.
AND teacher of Anthropology of food and territorial style at the “In Cibum” academies in Pontecagnano and “Intrecci” in Castiglione in Teverina as well as being the author of “Genius loci” for Trenitalia’s “La Arrow” magazine, a column that deals with the valorization of Italian villages.

I tried to make it clear where I’m coming from by showing His Excellency the Prefect a plastic donkey, the archetype of work, the same donkey that helped my grandfather Peppe and my grandmother Caterina with their work in the fields and with the sheep. I also talked about grandfather Gaetano, a railway worker who, with the help of grandmother Concetta, had reserved a room in their house to host people who missed the last train of the evening.
