Sunday June 9, 2024 at 4.00 pm to Cernusco sul Naviglio art and music with the architect Lucia
Razzini and the Cantiere Choir.

The Itinerary of contemporary Churches in the Diocese of Milan offers a new appointment with the presentation of the Church of the Madonna del Divin Pianto in via Guido Gozzano.
The meeting will be enriched by a music concert sacred contemporary of Legnano Shipyard Choir directed by Roberta Mangiacavalli. The formation, which sings a cappella, will immerse listeners in a cross-reference of harmonic sounds between the voices of the choristers and the white spaces of the church.

The building designed by the Cernuschese architect Carlo Razzini in 1984 to provide a pastoral center for the new district of Via Dante. The church inaugurated in 1986 and consecrated in 1992 is dedicated to the visitation, in February 1924, of the Virgin Mary to the Marcellina nun Elisabetta Redaelli. The Madonna held the crying baby Jesus in her arms. It will be Msgr. Luciano Capra, provost of the pastoral community of Cernusco, introduced the meeting on 9 June, recalling the apparition of the Madonna to Sister Elisabetta, while the architect Lucia Razzini, who as a young assistant to her father Carlo had participated in the planning of the works of completion of the church, will illustrate the architectural and liturgical aspects of the beautiful building with clean and rounded lines that make the hall, sloping towards the altar, particularly welcoming and convivial.
Paolo Scirpa’s stained glass windows illuminate and color the white-walled building along the perimeter of the church, while the neon devices above the altar and above the baptismal font captivate the gaze towards infinity.

The church of the Madonna del Divin Pianto, which is not yet part of it, will be included in the Itinerary of Contemporary Churches bringing to 51 the sacred buildings of particular interest highlighted in the Diocese of Milan starting from 2015.
