A 27 year old was injured in the head this morning following the fall of rubble from the facade of a building. The episode occurred around 8 am at number 4 of Piazza Bengasi, Nizza Millefonti district, southern suburbs of Turin. TO hitting him on the head and shoulder just as he passed through the door were marble slabs, just over a centimeter thick.

They came down from a height of approximately four metres, after detaching themselves from the architrave of the building’s driveway entrance. The young man, resident in the building in question, was transported by ambulance to the CTO. His condition, as far as we know, is not serious.

The firefighters and municipal police intervened in Piazza Bengasi immediately after the accident. That stretch of pavement in Piazza Bengasi has been closed for safety reasons pedestrians are prohibited from passing. The firefighters then proceeded to make the area safe. They have that is detached the remaining marble parts from the top of the entrance gate to number 4 e also the slabs of the same material at the height of the doors and nearby shops. A technician from the Municipality also intervened in Piazza Bengasi to verify the incident. Around 10.30 a group of workers started consolidation work on that stretch of facade. Consists in positioning of iron support bars at the top of the door.
